Mitchell is an american writer-producer, storyteller, and creator who worked on the hit Netflix drama series “Bridgerton.” She also wrote for “Alex Rider” (Amazon Prime & IMDBTv), "The Letter for the King” (Netflix), "Deutschland 86" (Sundance & Amazon Prime) the 2nd season of the Emmy award-winning international TV drama series "Deutschland 83." since 2020, She creates, develops, pitches, and sells original series and adaptations. she’s currently writing a feature film and editing her first novel. Born and raised in Los Angeles, California Joy C. Mitchell has pitched and sold several pilots to networks and studios such as BBC, Lionsgate, Apple, Gaumont, and Disney+. In 2019, she worked on-location in England covering set for production of the foundational first season of Shondaland and Netflix’s franchise series BRIDGERTON. She began her career as a music journalist, travel blogger, and content writer for tech startups. Her writing has been published in Billboard Magazine, The Hollywood Reporter, and Teen Vogue among other publications. She earned a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing from Emerson College and graduated with honors in Print Journalism from USC with a minor in Music Industry.
Joy is an expat who splits her time between London and Los Angeles, California. Since 2014, she has previously lived in Lisbon, Portugal and Berlin, Germany. She speaks conversational German and Spanish, and has visited 27 countries in the last five years as a solo traveler.
